I am a father, combat veteran, historian, philosopher, trail runner, and writer. I’ve pulled myself out of homelessness and addiction. I have worked out many ways to navigate the mental health fallout that is the by-product of a half-lived life. I have figured out what works for me and I want to let others know. There is no reason to repeat the same mistakes. I learned some things. I often write about them. Stand on my shoulders and help me guide you the way many have guided me.

I am in the process of taking on coaching clients. Insert your email below and let’s get started.

Run Long. Think Deep. Feel It All.

As I said before, I’m a veteran of combat, spending a chunk of time as a medic in Iraq with the U.S. Army in ’06-’07. This time had lasting impact, both positive and negative, and shaped the man I am today. But that’s not all of who I am.

Moments in our lives, ever impactful as they may be, are simply moments. We must learn from them, for better or worse. Our reality is based on our perception, our perception is based on our experiences and our interpretation of them. Let’s dive deep and reflect, grow, and push forward in ways long imagined. I believe in a holistic approach that covers mental, physical, and spiritual work. If we don’t know why we do what we do, then the point to this trip gets lost. Life is short, and I want to be used up when I die. Don’t you?

I truly believe that we are all capable of transcending what “is” and discovering what could be. There is absolutely no reason to stay stagnant. If a knuckle-dragger like me can figure out some things, and continue to do so daily, then I know everyone on the planet has the same capacity. Let me help you figure out your way. Reach out to me via email (marcus@mrmarcusthornton.com), subscribe above, connect with me on Instagram @the.existential.trailrunner. I release reels with snippets of hard earned wisdom while trail running. These are messages I need in the moment, and I hope others benefit from as well.

Thank you for all your support! This is only the beginning.
